I am using the basic version of Gmail and sign out religiously using the "sign out" function.
I sign on later again and hit the " detail" link and I see on the Account activity " page that I am still signed on, I do not see a different IP address other than the one I was previously using, so I don't know if somebody is riding along using my accounts or if it is merely a problem with the sign out function. Thsi happens about one third of the time that I use Gmail. Any ideas?

I think you might probably hit sign out and just closed browser. Sometime it happens we didn't provide enough time and close the browser that has happened with me a few times.
