If you can't figure out how to get to your apps without the Start button, then perhaps you're not meant to use a computer..

At the Start screen, right click the background, BINGO BANGO! All Apps option pops up.

While a bit harsh, I agree with Anonymous Friend. Metro UI and the original UI may not have identical interfaces with applications they do compliment one another in that what one can't accommodate the other can.

You can also use the lower right corner... I agree though I liked the start menu and sort of miss it.. have yet to use IE on the newer start screen because you need to sign in to/for a MSN account, which seems to me it might be a problem. Back to the Apps if you right click anywhere on the "new start" you can see all apps... not sure how to add to the "new start" screen, have to play some and use it as a computer less, to figure out things on this new Op. its a BETA so problems will occur As a side note I don't like the new icons for the windows programs, sort of a throw back to video games (would love to change them to more colorful things and change the "new start" screen.

It's fairly obvious that the person who wrote this hasn't used windows 8 for a long time. Several things in the article are flat out wrong. In the start screen, contrary to the article, it is possible to organize icons into groups and name the groups. I figured that out in the first 10 minutes of using windows 8.

What if im a developer does one of those shop, mail or camera tiles im never going to use on my desktop turn into "Visual Studio"

Microsoft always seems too reveal not the future, but the mistakes of their past. I wish once they would incorporate all that is good in Windows without having to go back after complaints and make the needed changes.

I plan to get a new computer right before the official launch of Windows 8. If the past is any predictor, I suspect that Microsoft will be giving customers who buy Windows 7 computers just before the Windows 8 launch a free upgrade to Windows 8. That way,if I am unhappy after I install 8 I can go back to 7.

I really want to try it out before I form any opinions. I tried installing it on my MAC in various known ways and totally failed at that. So, I'll have to look elsewhere. My MAC gets another looser point.

Um....yes you can. It really sounds like you have not used it because I was able to do just that in about 5 minutes.

I love it! It is an innovative way of presenting a UI. You have to take some time to switch between your ears and stick your finger to all the Apple-kids!
W8 works splendid, the same interface as my Windows Phone. Since I installed this preview, I rarely use Win7 any more. Keep up the good work MS!

I like my Tablet and iPhone but there's no way in hell I want my actual desktop to look or act that way. It's THE reason I still have a desktop & laptop; to get work done. That Metro crap is a true productivity killer. Consuming? Fine. Producing? Garbage.

Start aside, Metro is for phones and tablets, Win 8 for p/c's. Another take on OS X and iOS. I think biz will like the MS sys better.
