Where are the bars on the difference in cost?

Hardly...but the iPad is certainly the big dog right now. Me? I'm waiting to see if the Windows 8 tablets are as good as my experience with Windows Phone 7 promises. WP7 is spectacular...but Windows 8 has a much higher bar to jump.

This is good for everyone. The devices will get better and the prices will drop.

Dude, you really don't know much or are just a serious fanboy that doesn't do research. Apple has the same keyloggers on their ipads and iphones that android does. The difference is, if you root an Android you can take it off most of them with no prob, if you take it off the apples you will get major lockup issues.

I also know most don't want to be tied to AT&T and their crappy service.

Another thing you can't really say a product is better than another when you compare an entire line of products vs one product. Nokia had the top mobile OS before Android but there wasn't an individual Nokia phone that outsold the iPhone. The reason Nokia was bigger is because there were more Nokia phones to choose from and more selection when it came to cost and availability. It doesn't mean people preferred Nokia phones to the iPhone. Because if that was the case the top selling Nokia phone would've outsold the iPhone. And the same holds true when it comes to Android. Android might be the top selling mobile OS but people don't choose Android over iPhone or the iPad because again there isn't an individual Android phone or Tablet to even come close to the same sales as the iPhone 4S and iPad.
Why am I bringing this up? Because Android as a compete OS does well but when you break it down product by product, Android isn't really a threat to the iPhone 4s or iPad. There never was true competition. If there was people wouldn't feel the need to compare units shipped to units sold or compare an entire mobile OS to an individual product.

I hope you're able to disable this, it would bug the hell out of me.
You say the competition needs to catch up with the ipad, but the only test that suggests any significant difference between the iPad and the current Android selection is the GLBenchmark.
Speaking of the GLBenchmark, those numbers look off. Isn't the iPad supposed to be 4x more powerful that the 2nd gen? Also, those prime numbers are way too low.

I think you should check again, cause Apple does the same. Worse in some cases.

It's also notable that despite the apparent better results on the GLBenchmark, the Prime games looked and performed better.

I'd just like to inform you that I and many other DID choose Android over iOS.
And after playing around with the new 4s, I'm so glad I did.
