That's actually an old *Russian* joke from the Stalin era -- but the fact that it can now seem so "American" should be chilling right there.

I'm pretty sure the only reason the CIA would want to spy on spomeone's device is because there's a person attached to or using that device.

I am 100% sure that they would not be prosecuting a cellphone or refrigerator for spying.

While the CIA may be teschnically corrcet in any claim that they are not spying on people, but rather things, but I really do want to see what the prosecution case would look like. It would likely nore resemble a persecution case.

The CIA is certainly capable of spying on anyone, at any time and anywhere. I would really prefer to think that they would not. For one thing, I am sure they have no intrest in me. If you fear CIA spying, what is it that gives you a guily conscious? For another thing I am sure they would rather remain legal.

So you would be willing to give up your constitutional freedoms because "You have a clear conscience and they wouldn't be interested in you anyway". You sound like one of the other millions of "sheeple" that won't fight for their freedom. Once it's gone, it's too late, your not going to get it back.
So how would you like that you were being listened in on (or perhaps even on video" while making love to your spouse?
Just because you don't think your doing anything wrong don't mean that the gov't may construe something you did or acted on as being illegal. Perhaps you skipped the commercials on your illegally recorded tv shows, that would be construed as illegal as far as the RIAA and MPAA goes, and they are constantly working with and through the government to seek out these people.
The list goes on and on, but I think Ben Franklin said it best when he said "Those who give up their freedom in the name of security deserve neither freedom nor security."

FWIW. the CIA is not authorized to engage in domestic surveillance. However, it has plenty of cohorts who do, and are more than willing to act as its agents.
While each is entitled to his own opinion, no one is entitled to his own facts.

I suppose I should resent your remarks, but I don't. I still fear communisn. I resent anyone who can spy on me and Ben Franklin may be correct. Nonetheless, I spent 26 years of my life prepared to give my life for those freedoms. I am still prepared if my country will have me. The law says that I can no longer serve actively. I have not, to my knowledge joined the flock of sheep that apparently do exist. I do hope you have no reason to fear the CIA.
