In a few weeks, I'm going to be going on a little trip down to LA. Out of curiosity, I was wondering if there's a way I can securely set up a proxy or the like on my home PC so that I can use that when I'm away, ensuring that I can't be firesheeped (and just for experimentation). I gave my PC a static IP interally, and forwarded VNC port 5900 to it. This seems to work. (note that I only attempted to connect to my desktop using the desktop, but via the external IP) I will probably use a dynamic IP client if I go that route. However, I don't think VNC is very secure. Any other ideas? Optimally, I'd rather have a proxy server, but this seems to be harder to set up and so I'd rather not bother with it.

I use Teamviewer for a couple of remote clients. The free version requires someone at the other end send you a password (they change) to complete the link. Will LogMeIn Free version do what you need?

Hmm... I need this to be something that does NOT require me to accept the connection on the other end. I'll look at logmein.

You should check on net, there must have free version of Bitvise..
