Hello,
I read the online article about the "Top 10 Power Desktops" that was published in December 2011.
I refer you to the link below:
PC World Article
However, there are some systems out now that have 6.0 GHz or faster performance when rated on the Intel Gulftown architecture scale. There are many 5.0 GHz and faster Sandy Bridge systems designed by Liquid Nitrogen Overclocking, Inc that did not even get an honorable mention.
The Fastest Chess Computer in the World is perhaps the most aggressive game of "King of the Hill" on the internet, and again, the system currently ranked #1 there, the Vortex F6 computer, did not make the list. That item is shown below:
Fastest Chess Computer in the World
So, I guess my question is, how can those other desktop system lay claim to their laurels, when the other systems are obviously outperforming them?

Hi. THose machines with the 6.0 Ghz speeds are primarily built to get those numbers and to run long enough to get them. That is the reasoning behind Liquid Nitrogen to cool them. They are not intended for everyday use, and as i saidf to get the numbers. The ones listed are production models and are for everyday use. I am running a 2600k OC'd to 4.4 Ghz. I can probably get a good stable 4.8 Ghz - 5.0 Ghz with liquid cooling as I have air cooling at the moment. The "Chess Computer" is a different breed than your home desktop, so is pretty much like comparing apples and oranges. The article was solely focused on the Home Desktop computers.

Coastie, they do not use liquid nitrogen in any of their systems. That is the name of their company.
If you look at their systems for the fastest chess computer in the world:
fastest chess computer in the world
You can see a direct quote on their page that it can run 24x7 @ 6.0 GHz with no problem whatsoever.
I am quoting their text directly:
"How would you like a 6.0 GHz computer that could run 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, with 100% reliability?
Our tests can prove that the Vortex F6, powered by Intel's i7-3960X Sandy Bridge-E™ processor, runs at virtually the identical speed as a 6.0 GHz i7-980X. Of course, the i7-980X was the fastest Intel chip in the year 2010. Its stock speed was 3.33 GHz, so each core of our Vortex F6 computers is more than 1.8 times as fast! "

I hope you can agree in your next post that you were mistaken here.

They sell a 4.8 GHz Sandy bridge that is air-cooled:
4.8 GHz air-cooled Sandy Bridge
They also have a 5.0 GHz Sandy Bridge that is water cooled:
5.0 GHz water-cooled Sandy Bridge

It is not a "different breed" at all. It fits on a desktop, it is using the i7-3960X chip by Intel which anyone can buy, so I don't see how you can defend your remark. A desktop is a desktop is a desktop, and this is the fastest one you can buy.
If PC World was smart, you would interview them and report on how they do it!
