Hi there,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 XP. It boots fine, but it takes like a minute to open whatever I hit to open. Then when I hit close, it closes slowly from the top like a curtain. I run Puran Defrag, Malwarebytes, Ccleaner, Avast, and everything is up to date. Tried everything I can think of and still doing the same thing. Anyone that can help me please? This is my only baby, not new, but well kept...and I cannot afford a new one right now ;o)
I will greatly appreciate all the help you can give me.
Thanks in advanced!

You need more RAM. As lappys age and OS bloat sets in, things just slow down. The Inspiron 1300 can take up to 2GB RAM. I recommend the full 2GB seeing as you want to keep it.

What are the temps like? (use hwmonitor to measure them) You may need to clean up the air vents. Also, how many items on startup do you have? (use msconfig or ccleaner to check this) Try using a hard drive diagnostic tool (Seatools; ignore the overtemp warning if you don't have a Seagate drive).
