What's wrong with the ribbon? Let me tell you: it assumes that you're so stupid that you can only possibly be doing one thing at a time. Let's say I'm in a table. I get the stupid table ribbon. Heaven forbid I should want to format text or a paragraph or insert a graphic or anything. Yes, and what is the freaking difference between Layout and Design? Hey, Microsoft, here's a clue -- professional users (unlike the secretaries the ribbon caters to) do more than one thing at a time. With Office XP, all my toolbars were available all the time. I'm at least 25% slower in Word because of all the switching among tabs on that stupid ribbon.

Until Microsoft gives me the choice of using my traditional drop-down menus and toolbars (and to COMPLETELY turn off that dreaded productivity-killing ribbon), I will NEVER buy another Microsoft product. As a professional developer, I need speed and flexibilty in the UI to do what I want to do when I want to do it without thinking. With ribbons constantly changing without my request and my familiar keyboard shortcuts and icons gone, ribbons are nothing but a productivity DISASTER.

Is the author on Microsoft's payroll? Office 15 is a frivolous waste of money for the average user. It's profligacy to invest in touch screen hardware to use new software that Microsoft stuffs down our throats to maintain its profits.

I hated office 2010. Switched to Libre office.

Author is on MS payroll. Just to minimize the Ribbon I should pay $$$ again. And Office Marketplace, it already exists. Talk about being clueless. They bring out 10 new features and sell the same software for $300-400. Plus they have killed upgrade pricing too for Office. Office is a dying business, no one needs anything more than Office 2003. The stupid Ribbon will reduce your productivity and waste all you have learnt.

Quickaccess toolbar in ms office 10 can help you. All you need to do, insert the commant or menu to the toolbar. And you can get you production back....

Really it's not that hard to create a custom menu - it takes just a few min. And if you are a co-called professional user, then the ribbon is a breeze. 90% of the formatting is done using the Home Tab (one click) - the other tabs are more specialized. Honestly, I don't understand what you are griping about.

Looking at this (http://www.winsupers...-preview-142569), what I think is that it looks good, although the 'Get Started' screen is useless, like the sidebar pane in office 2003 that appeared by default yet no one used, and having the 'save to skydrive' option be first will confuse people. How about, when you select save, there are a few tabs - computer, skydrive, etc, with computer first, and then right below that there's a file browser, as a part of the same window (no separate dialog windows)? Also, I think the Mail, Calendar, People, Tasks buttons are too big in outlook. Bigger text is fine, but that's a bit too big. And by the way, I like the ribbon and get confused whenever I use office 2003. I also don't see why they're hiding the ribbon by default - that might be a bit confusing at first to some people. And what's with the all caps with the interface and ugly icons with little color? Yuck... I'd use Office 2000 if I wanted that.

My favorite thing about new versions of Micro$uck Orifice is, I don't ever need them and have never needed them since OpenOffice became available in 2000. Actually since StarOffice 5.2 was available before that, promising to become OpenOffice.

I have to agree with the previous comments. If I had a choice I would still use Office 2003. The ribbon is a nanny that tells you how to use the application and the quick access toolbar is a poor excuse for customizing. Office 15 does not have to do much to improve on 2007, but from the piece there is nothing to convince me that 15 is worth paying for.

No one said you had to buy, use Office 15 -- unless someone where you work forces you to through the company upgrade procedure.

If you don't like the way M$ writes software:
1. Use something else (written by someone else)
2. Write your own, then it will be just the way you like it. :)
