You cannot bypass a complete lack of signal generators. I have been using Linux for over 10 years, and Nvidia cards equally as long. There is a difference between a software and hardware limitation. If the limitations were software based, then a creative hacker would have modified Windows drivers already. For that matter, Nvidia would have released the drivers so they could remain competitive.
I have been using linux for over 19 years. Some limitations can be bypassed. There are some limitations that can not. Nvidia stops supports after time and does not updated their drives since it will cost them more than what they made. Hackers usually look into newer things and do not play around with older tech. There are some that do but not too many are out there. They who work with old tech are a disappearing more and more with the years. The younger once aer more interested in a quick fix and quick buck.
