Hi and welcome to the forums. I can't speak specifically to the smart phone, but I just bought a back up battery for a laptop I bought in Dec. The back up battery actually seems to do better than the battery that came installed for some reason, although they are both 6 cell.

Few phone batteries will last 24 hours. But they should last the 16-17 hours from when you wake up until you go to bed.

If your battery doesn't last that long, there are workarounds. Turning off Wi-Fi helps. So does turning off automatic syncing of certain apps.

Another workaround is to get in the habit of charging it when it's convenient during the day. You can do it when you drive your car, sitting at your desk, and so forth.

And, as Coastie suggests, there are backup batteries for many models.

Hi Marjorie,

Well, this battery may be faulty. And when did you buy your phone, some years ago? Batteries shouldn't be flat THAT fast. You should be able to use the phone couple of DAYS after charging. Still, you mentioned Facebook and if you watch videos on it, too, this may use up the battery in almost no time. So, before you buy a new one, try to turn energy saving mode on or get some app for that.

The year of 2012 is special for Poland not only because of Euro 2012. Polish Radio 3, called Trójka, is celebrating 50 years, its hit list, presented by Marek Niedzwiecki, is 30 years old. And 45 years ago, in 1967, The Rolling Stones gave their first Polish concert in Warsaw.

I agree with yankeesalu. Normally blackberries have the best battery life but yet it can vary per model. I have HTC desire and the battery dies in the end of the second day.

The battery of most of the smart phones doesn't last too long. If it stands for a day, its good.
Mostly it lasts from morning to evening as per your usage.
Since you use to regularly chat from you device, your battery is good if it lasts for the day.
Charge your cell when ever you are free, that is the only solution.

@MarjorieHoosier Dear, it might happens to you, because any smart phone or multimedia phone is designed to use all multimedia functions. That leads to reduce the battery and internet are bound to run all the time. so these are the obvious reason, why your battery is running short of time!!!

You should change a brand new original battery for your phone, you can try ebay or Amazon to find your wanted battery.

I will add something here. I have an LG Spectrum and that was an issue with that phone until they did a firmware upgrade, which helped. Second, if it is 4G, it will eat up the battery quite fast. Mine was at full charge yesterday morning and is at least at 2/3 now. Haven't haven't really used it all that much though.

In terms of 4G, I think LTE is worse than HSPA+. That said, I wasn't happy to find my phone battery at only 25% this morning because I forgot to turn on the power strip when plugging it in (I had about 40-50% last night). Oops...

That is the "downside" of "multitasking" (i.e. processes in the background that continue to run unless you explicitly kill them).

I am not say that multitasking is a bad thing, but rather that most things have downsides to them as well as the upsides.

In that case, it said the Android system and phone idle were taking up a good chunk of the battery. The Hotmail app also tends to eat battery like a hungry squirrel raiding my bird feeder if I put the phone in airplane mode (constantly trying and failing to connect), so I "pause" it. (That's in the app itself, and tells it to stop syncing.)

There has always been a issue with the battery life of smartphones, they don't last that long after being used for a year or so, this results in eventually replacing them and get a new battery.
The same case is with you as well so think you batteries have gone dead and you may need to replace the batteries of our smartphones.
