Android smartphones can have a pretty bad reputation when it comes to battery life, though that reputation has definitely improved in general over time. smart phone always need more power to support itself system

Depending on the phone, that can be quite exaggerated. For instance, the HTC Incredible 2 I owned had a 2 day functional battery life.
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'" -- Isaac Asimov

I have a charger / dock that is independent of my phone. I have one battery plugged in all the time. The batteries in my phone are good for about 12 hrs. then need changing or charging. I got an extended life battery which was a waste as it does no better.
UPDATE: I turned off the WiFi and it has made a heck of a difference in Battery life for sure. I was trying to do an end around on Verizon and thought I could massage through WiFi and not have to worry about the limit & resulting charges when I exceeded it. That seem not to be the case so now I have unlimited on that as well as calls.

There are several factor for these:
1) Check you applications, it drains a lot of your battery
2) Check if the bluetooth/wifi/mobile data connection is off when not in used
3) The brightness of your phone can also be a factor
4) Turn off location services
5) Social media notifications
6) Put your phone in sleep mode
But if it so happen that none of these works, we might conclude that it is the battery is already defective..
** You might also buy a battery life extender if you wish too.

The battery on my Palm pre smart phone will not last 24 hours,I do have face book messaging. I hardly ever talk on the phone. Is my battery bad or do I need to make some adjustments.
Hi and welcome to the forums. I can't speak specifically to the smart phone, but I just bought a back up battery for a laptop I bought in Dec. The back up battery actually seems to do better than the battery that came installed for some reason, although they are both 6 cell.
