Tom, if you are reading this, please listen to a player who's faithfully played and, more importantly, *paid* for this game for five years. You're not going to save Warcraft by implementing Pokemon and Farmville. Period. You're not going to save Wacraft by putting in cutesy furry playable characters. Period. You're right that the problem with Cataclysm was that we simply ran out of things to do. The answer isn't just throwing a bunch of random stuff at the walls and seeing what sticks. The answer is "accessibility." Lich King will be remembered as the best WoW expansion not because it was "easy"--there was nothing easy about Algalon or Arthas--but because it was ACCESSIBLE. Whatever sort of magic happened for Lich King to be accessible and fun completely fell by the wayside when Cataclysm released. You recaptured some of that with the heroic Twilights, but I've done those a combined total of about 120 separate instances now, and frankly, I'm burned out on them.
