Yep... they always seem to forget how easily people can pirate a game if they want.

The thing is, with what they are doing, they are kiiling the sales before it is even launched. Nobody is going to want to touch that thing with it being so restrictive ( and NO backwards compatibility? ). Good way to send people packing to Xbox that normally wouldn't move to that platform.

But you seem to have skipped over the part of the article that says there are rumors that Microsoft is planning the same thing (i.e. blocking of used games) for the next generation Xbox.
Of course, both are still just "rumors" at this point. But, if both are true, then you are hosed either way...either you just don't buy either or live with no (or limited) used games.
I agree that if they do it, then they are stupid. Mainly because it also kills rentals. Since many PC games have activation codes, I believe there is not much of a rental/used market...I suspect this is why GameFly does not rent PC games. So, if they implement this, then gaming on consoles might become more like gaming on a PC...and they (both the console makers and the game makers) might see their revenue drop.

I guess they are really trying to hard sell the games to every gamer. Used games? Forget it. Borrowing games from your bros? No go. The customers are becoming less and less important in the enterprise's eyes. IF this rumor is true, then a lot of people may just swear off console gaming for good.
