But Microsoft is finally pumping some money into marketing. The whole AT&T Lumia 900 is the first. But as a owner of a Windows 7 HTC Trophy. Unless you pretty much give away nobody really going to buy one. Microsoft has lost the mobile battle. I suspect they will lose Windows 8 too.

Um....the odd thing is that OSX has about 6% marketshare and I don't see articles about how no one measures it? Heck more people run Vista than OSX. Think about. Let that sink in for a minute. More people are running a 5 year old failed operating system that everyone hates than people use Macs.

It's sad that there are basically only two choices for a smartphone anymore. Falling into the "other" category is only a few steps away from irrelevance.

If you think MS and Nokia are going to roll over and play dead, I think you are wrong. Maybe their share here in the US is small, but they are also shooting for the world market, which just China is larger than the US. Also they are really just getting some good models going- see Nokia- give them time, this isn't a battle, it is a war.
Just my opinion......YMMV......

Wonderful news if you're O.K. with using Chinese language apps. Not so much help if you're not. How are they doing in the non-U.S. markets?

Its obvious that you're just a troll. You dont have a Windows Phone you just looked it up online or otherwise you would know its Windows Phone 7 HTC Trophy, not Windows 7 HTC Trophy , Windows Phone is an amazing OS better than Iphone and Android ICS 4.0 update. Look up the reviews for Windows Phone anywhere only its overwhemingly positive. The New york Times calls it "Gorgeous". This isnt the Microsoft that made Windows XP this is the Microsoft that made Xbox 360 and Kinect. So people just look at videos on youtube or reviews or ask anyone who truly owns one you will be surprised. Windows phone is Amazing.

Yep, eat poop, it's delicious. A trillion flies can't be wrong! Keep repeating it, maybe you'll even convince yourself!

It should be pointed out that the 8% 'other' share includes a lot of obscure crap besides Microsoft's obscure crap. It's among such quality offerings as 'Bada' and 'WebOS' and Microsoft's other 'wonderful success', the 'Kin'.

Since MS is in it for the long haul...it isnt a big deal. Also the number 3 RIM is in a weak position.

I'm a real user of a Nokia Lumia 710 outside the US. I also have an iPhone 4S and don't work in the cellphone industry.

WP has been solid, the UI is fresh and even exciting, but apps are still a bit limited. Yes there are differences between WP and iOS but that's what they are, not a features arms race.

There was one unexpected bonus on the 710 and that's the pre installed Nokia Drive; a full turn by turn GPS that gets it right more often than M-B's Comand can't be all bad. And you can buy two 710s for the price of an iPhone. This one's a keeper.

For the millionth time, MS purchase Sprint and Nokia and take first mover's advantage on becomes a vertically integrated smartphone maker and wireless carrier. And Sprint owns Virgin Mobile USA, which is a major pre-paid player in the U.S.

I guess the figures of 2 million sales Nokia was bandying about was shipments after all and not actual customer sales like the other smart phone makers' figures.

Even today, long after the Lumia launch Windows Phone is still under 1 percent worldwide. Nokia is not going to save the day.

Wasn't the launch year advertising budget for Windows Phone half a billion dollars?
