Well, it looks like the Benchmarking thread has gone the way of Windows 8, and I'm curious to see what sort of scores others are getting with their SSDs. I tested mine again tonight with AS SSD
http://alex-is.de/PH...4&download_id=9
and attached is an image of my scores.

coastie, if you're out there: your scores should be better than mine for a couple of reasons: 1) I've got a SATA 3 SSD on a SATA 2 board, and; 2) the bigger the SSD the faster (according to what I've read, anyway). I'm curious to see what your scores are.

BTW, AS SSD will test platter drives, too.

Did you notice your read/write times were twice mine, and access times approximately halved? I'm going to assume that's due to both your SATA 3 mobo and your faster system. It wouldn't be worth just upgrading my mobo to get those speeds, but it's nice to know what took forward to when I upgrade my system. Which will be a while...

Hey LiveB,
How do my scores compare with your WD? I'm curious how much my SATA 2 board is throttling my speed.

Hey Comp, That is about right when you consider SATA II and SATA III. I am using the 6.0 Header rather than the Marvell 6.0 Header. Don't know what the difference is on that though, although I've heard some say that the Marvell was slower for some reason.

I'm away from home at the moment (I'll be home tomorrow), and am typing this on the laptop, but I recall it was something like 110MB/sec or so sequential reads and slightly less seq. writes. It's about half full. Btw my WD Black is SATA 2 and is plugged into the Intel P55 chipset's sata 2 ports. (I'm not using the marvell sata 3 controller for anything at the moment, but will probably use it if I get an ssd.)

Wait... sandy bridge has it's own sata 3/6gbps ports, yet asus also put in a marvell controller? Why? With mine, since the chipset didn't have sata 3 (or usb 3), gigabyte added in 3rd party controllers to compensate for future proofing.

Yep. They did. Thinking of moving to the GEN 3 version of this MOBO for the PCIe 3.0 to be ready for the GTX 680. Just trying to keep up with the Jones' . :D
