This wasn't SquareSoft's mapping graphics, it was Enix's for the Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest in Japan)series.

What makes this even more hilarious for me was that last night I was playing DW3...

For the culturally deprived, from Office Space (1999), courtesy of IMDb:

Peter Gibbons: Let me ask you something. When you come in on Monday and you're not feeling real well, does anyone ever say to you, "Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays?"

Lawrence: No. No, man. [Bleep], no, man. I believe you'd get your [blap] kicked sayin' something like that, man.

This wasn't their April fools, they actually did this. The April fools was the using tool that allows the use of 2 mice at the same time.

Google do several April Fools' day pranks, including the one you mention.
Like you said, they did actually do this, but the Map getting released as a NES game? Don't hold your breath.

I don't actually think it would ever be released, as I don't think there are many NES consoles still floating around. I didn't realise Google actually did more than one April fools, although I'll take your word on that. However, I still don't consider this to be a joke as they actually did this, it isn't like they are going to produce software anytime soon to allow the use of 2 mice, especially it is impossible to do so without visualisation or additional hardware.
