This looks really super, now all the crooks have to do is sit on a street corner and collect all the info as it drives by. Or even worse yet, a subway station in DC. Fast acting intervention would limit losses. Nope, it has to be a magnetic card reader or an inhouse card with limits and insurance. I don't need to be walking around with a device in my pocket that will reveal all my data when properly interogated. If you never use an unprotected card, you'll eventually meet the unknown charges lady and she really needs convincing.

I like my debit card just fine.
The money comes right out of my account and I can check my balance as often as I want.
I would hate to have to pay for all the stuff I buy once a month on my phone bill.

My phone has NFC and it doesn't work like this. NFC has to be extremely close to work - you wouldn't be able to stand on a street corner and get passing cars. Also, my credit cards already have RFID chips in them for NFC-type payments where I just touch my card to the card reader instead of sliding it and signing. So the security risks are already there for those with RFID credit cards. I don't see this as any less secure. There's nothing I know of that can steal the Google Wallet information off of my phone with interacting with the phone itself. And it's just as easy to steal your wallet as it is to steal your phone - only your wallet doesn't have a screen lock with a password/PIN number, or the ability to install an app like Prey to remote-wipe it if it's stolen.
