I use the Windows Logo + L keyboard shortcut to switch between users.

Or just create a shortcut to "C:\Windows\System32\tsdiscon.exe" and pin to your taskbar...

Just read this article in the July 2012 issue and was going to say "Windows key + L" does the trick just not an immediate way to switch users since in Windows 7 it first locks the computer then allows you to switch. All in all you save roughly 2 seconds with the "Fast User Switch" freeware, but honestly when you spend 2-6 hours behind the screen are those two seconds gonna kill you?
