Heck my iPad2 won't hold a WiFi signal very well...so I don't know why this is only an issue with the "New iPad". What is ironic I own many Microsoft and Apple devices and typically the Microsoft devcies get a better signal but wont connect. While the Apple device connects but wont hold the signal. Which is better? I guess it is time for an Android device.

Just an FYI, the thread has only been viewed 64,000 times, not 620,000...you added an extra zero when it was probably at 62,000. Making this issue even far less dramatic.

It sounds like you got problems with your settings. Either that or you got some trojan hackbot on your network about to jump at you out of your printer! Looser!

I never had a single issue with my new iPad. My iPhone4 seems to have this problem sometimes in the morning. Could've been my router because it's 6-7 years old.

I've got all three generations of iPads, none have ever had any wifi issues. I didn't get 3G versions, so all use wifi only, no probs, ever.

as much as I'm not a fan of apple, that does sound like acceptable failure rate for an item that is mass produced. At least they are willing to fix. now if only take their head out of the sand when it comes to security issues/concerns.

I've had the 3G issue on a 64 Gig with LTE (Verizon(. Went to Genius bar and swapped it out. Still have the issue. It's intermittent, but when it starts it's real slow or no connection at all. Hoping for a software fix.

Multiple locations or one specific spot. I had 3g issues at home, called VZN and reported the problem and two weeks later they had identified the cause, upgraded the equip in my area and the problem is gone.... 8 months later still no problems.

Hello--PCWorld copy editor here. Thank you, MikeWewerka, for pointing out the numerical error regarding the relevant Apple support forum thread views. For the record, as of 9:00 p.m. Pacific time on April 5, the totals were 71,037 thread views and 859 replies. I've switched the author's figure from 620,000 to 62,000. Thanks for reading!

My device does have these issues. I bought it online from the apple store and had it shipped to me the day it came out. I bought it because I am teaching English in Japan this year, and all the teachers at my school said it was necessary. I am so glad I bought it. I watch movies on it, store grades, surf the web, use "Skitch" to diagram pictures with words for the benefit of my students, I use it to FaceTime and iMessage friends and family, I blog with it, I use it as a phone with Skype (they have these great little devices here in Japan: Mobile wifi units. They're about the size of an iPhone), it's my alarm clock, calculator, and currency converter, I play games on it, and I even scan the biological characteristics of new life forms (tricorder joke, sorry). In short, it's awesome. I am happy to have it. I do wish it had flash.
Anyway, I have experienced some issues with wifi connectivity. I also sort of stumbled upon the idea of "renewing the lease" of my network, or forgetting and rejoining the network. It seems to fix the issue. It is annoying at times, but honestly, this thing is pretty good. (I must admit frustration at times over the lack of flash. How many years has Apple been saying HTML5 is the new standard? Yet I consistently run into videos I can't watch because I have no flash.) oh well, it's strengths do outweigh its weaknesses.
