I wonder who these authors of this piece are talking to. User absolutely expect good to great voice quality. Sure nonverbal forms of communication have taken off, but voice quality was not part of the reason for most. All carriers need to follow Sprints lead and get these types of technology in place.

They need to get 4g every where first be four coming out with 4g lte hd phones or stop having people paid for 4g and they don't even have it in there area. This is just another way to rip people off.

Isn't the technology already created for better quality microphone and speakers that are used in cell phones? I don NOT require 'HD' voice, all I want is clarity from the existing signal. This should be capable with good equipment and a solid casing to prevent induced vibrations (buzz). A standard landline is not HD (so far as I understand it) yet it (usually) produces much better quality speech due to its larger receiver/transmitter (microphone/speaker) parts. The other 'wish' I have for a cell phone is improved speaker phone capability. With better quality here maybe people won't turn the volume up as loud to understand the conversation (or point the speaker TOWARD the user instead of on the back of the ceel and away from user ears).

Sprint could, as the saying goes, announce a cure for cancer and analysts would still be tripping over each over to show how unimpressed they are.
