MALICIOUS HACKERS! SOMEONE SHOULD STOP THEM! WAAAA! go home and cry to mommy. You live in a country where your fore fathers fought against laws and tyranny of oppressive government for the freedoms you exercise. Just because you take them for granted and all is neat and orderly (for now) on your street, don't knock those who are suppressed or you will be next.

They proved that they can cause some unwanted mischief. Nothing more!
Did their actions bring about change? NO!
Will their actions bring about change? NO!
Have they done anything which has brought about good? NO!
Will they ever grow up, come back to reality and realize they are doing what amounts to a child throwing a temper tantrum? NO!
Does anyone expect they will pi$$ off the wrong person someday and just disappear?

I think they've already pissed off plenty of people. Further they are not an actual unified organization, which someone could just make disappear if they wanted. At best they could merely drive them underground. Not that they're exactly comparable but its like saying one day the racists are gonna piss off the wrong person and will just disappear.

False equivalency.
Our forefathers did not engage in wanton vandalism or the theft and public disclosure of private information.
Anon and its ilk are puerile egocentric publicity seeking vandals, not at all like our forefathers.

Taking on the Chinese, home of some of the world's best hackers in the employ of the government, may have done just that.

Don't you think maybe some of the Anonymous script kiddies are the same malware writers? How else do they gain control over so many machines for their antiquated DDOS attacks? (Expertise - I hardly think so.)

And, bear in mind that the owners of many existing bot nets aggressively defend their zombies against would be competitors; and, that they earn income by renting out use of their nets.
In light of the recent report of Anon having stealthily redirected users to a URL known to be used for creating zombies for a particular bot net, it may be the case that Anon is now using, or looking to use, the services of said net.

Please share with us just one positive change in corporate and/or public policy that has come from the antics of Anonymous or other group of cowardly vandals. Just one. I'll bet you can't do it. As for calling them heros, what's heroic about skulking in the shadows and hiding their identities? To rise to the level of heroic shouldn't there be some risk involved? It appears to me that your heros come cheap.

Anonymous may have tried to strike at child porn sites, but did they effect a positive change as a result of their actions?

nonseq asked for PROOF of one positive change. They may have had good intentions when they struck at the child porn sites, but they certainly didn't change a thing. I didn't hear of any child porn site operators being arrested. The sites weren't permanently disabled. No pedo's arrested as a result. NADA, NOTHING! So what good did they do?
PS: Striking at someones pseudonym, is childish. Doing so when you have no clue what their pseudonym is about, why they chose it, ...., is foolish.
