Look up and read Vision Machine on Comixology. This AR glasses thing is a terrible idea that will eventually allow Google to own everything.

okay.. this is kinda cool that the capability would be there for augmented reality.. but the second that comes into play on the market shelves, you can be guaranteed that humanity will stop evolving. We already dont need to remember phone numbers, now we wont have to remember meetings (not even right them down), learn to navigate anywhere, when the internet is just a hands-free dictation away, People are only going to get less self-reliant and get dumber.

These glasses are an accident waiting to happen if they work the way they do in the video. The fact is that even walking with such glasses would be dangerous because one could easily be distracted by the head-up display and end walking right into traffic while checking out the cool details about their surroundings.

This is pretty stupid. I mean can you imagine some old lady getting hit by a car because a loser was texting and voice calling his wife while he's driving? Also this is Google, the search engine guys, not the actual innovative people like RIM, Apple, etc.

How will law enforcmnent agents be able to identify who is really wearing these google glasses and normal eye glasses? These is going to cause a lot of road accidents and perpatrators must be brought to book.

The same people who would be driving and texting with these glasses on, are the ones who would previously be driving and texting with a cell phone, where they would would be taking their eyes off the road for five seconds at a time.

And what about that instead of WALKING, he CRAWLED and perhaps found a quarter on the ground. Or perhaps he JOGGED and he his sweat caused him to stop for a moment, discovering another store! Or ... perhaps don't write in an otherwise OK article a sentence that's so overused and oldfashioned way of thinking it hurts my Technology Progress-o-meter -.-

regardless of one company supposedly owning everything, it is an amazing concept to contemplate, let alone actually get close to creating. We are not destined to be completely technology bound because it is our choice to do what we want with the products. So the fact that we stupid people out their who will misuse the product or others who dislike the product shouldnt stop the overall production of it for those who actually look forward to using something like that. if you don't approve, then don't pay so much attention to it :)

I personally think this is a innovative concept, and for those who say, he could have missed the opportunity to find a good book! Or anything idiotic along those lines, the point was to make, if you go to Walmart and want a few select items (the entire reason your at the store) and do not wish to spend any unnecessary time, you would easily be able to find the department without looking around to hopefully find an employee to ask. Also the remarks on driving, walking, or any tasks involving being distracted by these, open your eyes, we don't gaze at our phone 24\7, (at least I hope some people don't) while walking down the street, we use then when needed. If Google is smart enough to make this product I'm sure there smart enough to figure out also to have a silent\hibernation mode on them to keep you from having to remove them every time you plan on doing certain tasks.
Just my thoughts on this product.

Can you imagine some idiot hitting an old lady texting and calling his wife on a normal Andriod\iPhone\Smartphone the fact is people are stupid, people will do stupid things regardless of what you or anyone else thinks. And most people don't stay looking at our cell phones 24\7. If your driving most people would obviously take the glasses off and focus on the current events. And for those who do not, the biggest majority will be in the hospital at their own expense. Just because a new form of communication comes out does not make the world any more dangerous than it already is. Also google is a search engine, but have also made alot of their own products, they're not the same company they were back in the 80's and early 90's they have developed faster and quicker than most companies.

Who cares about the reality? I would rather have an earpiece and a tablet. The earpiece can talk and respond and if I decide I need to see something I can pull the tablet out of my pocket.

How many people will buy the glasses while they are cool and then get sick of them? Oh yeah, it doesn't matter Google will have the money.

I believe the biggest question is whether or not these glasses will also virtually improve your vision and in a sense this is a giant leap for mankind because these could "virtually" replace all conventional glasses. Also what if these glasses were just an addition that could be added to your current android powered device. The glasses would capture reality as is seen through your eyes and converse with all google glasses in the world databasing and measuring all that we have created. Also recording your activities internally providing both safety and a record of devious activities that you do daily. Pros and cons on both sides of the debate.

Kind of a scary reality. Imagine people recording things OTHERS don't want seen and tweeting it with a simple verbal command? Or advertisements popping out at the worst times possible, based on information you thought nobody knew?

(expressed in our parody)

O well..I'm sure the next generation will perceive this to be a necessary evil and just "take it"

Heads up displays have already been shown to be distracting in automobiles. I doubt very much most would consider this a gotta have.

RIM is innovative? Last time I checked they were still rehashing old software and old phone technology to sell to businessmen who don't really care. Apple, maybe. Google definitely. The creation of android phones and tablets and chrome books. They're expanding way beyond a search engine now.

You are living in the stone age if you think Google is just a search engine.

This is an idea that would be better started with a more limited scope. Glasses that work indoors with a household WIFI. There is going to be a learning curve for society using augmented reality that will be far steeper than for a PC or a cellphone app.
