Hard to say - both are good units.

I'll zalman even though I have both, the zalman has been pushed more because it was the cooler used when I tried to extreme OC.

The cooler master is a good cooler also.
My athlon, though running stock, runs in the teens.

Remember, he has an 125W CPU (I'm assuming he's asking about this for his Bulldozer FX-8120 after we told him to get a new CPU cooler for overclocking).

Yes, this is based of the FX-8120 and in need of a new one. With the other posts there were suggestions with these coolers. I went to Newegg and found these being the top of all coolers. Now just getting other peoples opinions.

I should mention that coastie has a gelid tranquilo and is very happy with it, having OC'd his 3.4GHz i7 2600K to 4.4GHz with it (note that his CPU is 95W, but yours is 125W).

Would I be able to get it up there with my watts being higher? I don't know if I trust to go that high. I have a simple motherboard and I doubt I have over 400W used on my PSU. I just want to be very confident that when I redo my overclocking that I do everything right.

Hard to say - Zalman is known for making high quality coolers, though that one only has a 92mm fan (the cooler master 212 has a 120mm one).

They each have their pros and cons. I'm not in a huge hurry right now. So I'll just wait and see what people vote for.

Of the ones you listed, the Tranqillo is the best. It falls just a tad shy of the Zalman CNPS 10x. The 10X will easily handle up to 140 watts give or take, and from what I understand, the tranquillo is pretty darned close. I passed on the Gelid when I got my Zalman only because they were both the same price at the time (or less than $10 difference... don't remember too well), and I trusted Zalman a hair more. These days, I would go with the Gelid without a second thought.

I initially installed the Zalman 10x Performa in here, but it was over one of my DIMM slots, so went with the Gelid Tranquillo. It has performed well and is as good as the Zalman that I had in here if not a tad better on the temps.

Nah. Just a more comprehensive survey / poll. :D Could have and probably should have added the Zalman CNPS 10x Performa as they are good too.

How about this one? http://www.newegg.co...t/Product.aspx? Seems like a good one. I have the AMD FX 8120 CPU. Or should I go with one from the list?

Ignore that last post. Didn't see that Coastie mentioned that CPU cooler. Ha. I must of read over it wrong and didn't put the two together. Either going to go with the Zalman CNP S10 or the CM Hyper.

I happen to LOVE my CNPS 10x. It is freaking great at its job.
