Previously, when buying an item from Amazon.com, or being the successful bidder for an eBay item, or posting items on Craigslist, my wife and I would receive an almost immediate email notifying us of the event. For about a month, now, we have received no such notifications, although we bought items from Amazon and eBay, and (yesterday) I posted about a dozen items on Craigslist.

I don't recall changing any email security setting in any of the security programs or firewall I use (on this VISTA machine), or downloading a new anti-virus program. I have checked the settings in those programs and the firewall, and didn't see one that would block the emails I have been receiving.

Any suggestions as to resolving this dilemma would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Drew

My guess is that your spam filter is filtering these things out. When you think that you should have received such a notice, check your spam folder. If you find it there, tell your mail client that this is not spam.

Just a thought: Have you checked your junk mail folders? Sometimes my email gets a little carried away, even with prior safe senders.
By the way, you didn't mention which email service you're using. That might help folks troubleshoot your problem.

Do you otherwise get emails through that email address? In other words, if you had a friend send you an email message does THAT message come though?

If you are getting some messages, but not others, then that does tend to suggest some sort of spam filter type issue.

If you are not getting ANY messages, then it could be a number of things.

What do you use for your security programs (i.e. firewall, anti-virus, etc)? How do you check you email...using an email client like Outlook, etc or using a web browser?

Guys:

Thanks for your suggestions. Here's more info:

1. I always check the "Junk Mail" folder (it is bold when any item is in it).
2. I have VISTA(!), so the mail client is "Microsoft mail".
3. My ISP is Optimum (Cablevision), which I access through MS Mail.
4. I receive many emails from friends and others, including junk mail, but no notices from companies I do business with, including utilities.

I'm just about ready to replace VISTA with XP (even WIN 98SE would be better) LOL.
