Best Usb Speakers With External Power Supply

I want to buy some new speakers for my desktop PC. I want them to receive their audio signal over USB but I want them to be powered by an external power supply (i.e. plug directly into the wall socket). Most USB speakers I find are powered over USB. I want something different. Any suggestions?

As a side note, how can speakers powered over USB be greater than 2.5 watts? I thought USB output 5 V at 500 mA (i.e. 2.5 watts).

They can't. As you said, the USB spec (at least USB 2.0 anyway) is 5V 500mA.
