So - why didn't anyone ask Apple what the reasoning was behind their choice to drop IPV6 from the current AirPort OS?

Here's a solution...don't buy Apple products. Anyone knows they are not for serious work anyway.

Ever consider there might be a flaw in IPv6 when running on Apple products? Nope I'm sure that never crossed you're mind. I hate people who are anti-something without ever owning a product by that company or without even thinking of a possible reason behind the decision.

Without understanding Apple's reason for this, I have no clue what the problem is.

Fix the flaw, don't move backwards. My entire home is being shifted to IPV6, why would I want my products going from "supported" to "not-so-much" after having everything in place?
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'" -- Isaac Asimov
