It's bad enough that Mac Pro and Air are expensive without upgrades. But now they are going to offer 800GB SSD to the Mac Pro, that will make the Mac Pro way too expensive. Last I checked, 500GB SSD was going for at least $1,500USD

The definition of market value is the amount that a willing buyer will pay a willing seller in an arm's length transaction. Apple is a willing seller and they seem to have more than enough willing buyers to sell through their inventory rapidly without resorting to fire sale pricing. So the claim that Apple is too high priced is without merit.

The good news is that customers who are offended by Apple's pricing model have plenty of choices for cheaper machines or for high quality comparable, high end machines- like Lenovo- that are either comparably priced or slightly less expensive.

If that's true, why do people complain about Apple's pricing? What skin is it off their noses? If you are not a willing buyer of Apple products at Apple's price point- buy something else but don't complain about Apple. In my opinion, we would all benefit, not from complaints about Cupertino, but from positive and critical information about the alternative technologies that are available.

For example, waldojim recently purchased a high end laptop and looked at Apple, Sony, and Lenovo. He ultimately ended up with a Lenovo W520 (a superior machine with the best keyboard on the planet). He shared his selection process in these forums which I subsequently shared with three other people who were wrestling with the same decision and they ended up with Lenovo laptops and love them. This is an example of how this community can really work for all of us.
