Is Apple Destroying The Internet?

If Apple can figure out how to make you pay them for writing your own app then i can see this happening.
Windows...Life Without Walls...until Win8 and their app store arrives...oh boy.
Linux is SO close to being a good OS...start phasing out the hacknoids and get some real designers to work on it.
I hate to say it but it does seem like Microsoft and Apple are rolling out the red carpet for a Linux infiltration, but command line hackers will NEVER get it done.

No other company collects as much data or has as many questions about user privacy than Google.
No other mobile operating system gets more malware than Google Android.
Google is just attacking Apple because Google has been caught stealing technology from other companies to create Android, lying about the privacy matters and cheating users out of data. Last I checked Apple was bad but not that bad.

And yet, under the false banner of freedom, millions flock to Android and Google products willing to yield their innermost secrets and their bank balances. I doesn't make sense to me.

I seriously doubt either loses sleep over any such thing, but I do agree that Brin's concerns over any Apple or Facebook "walled garden" are probably overblown. After all, the Internet had "walled gardens" before Apple and Facebook. AOL was one such environment. The fact that AOL had a "walled garden" didn't hurt Google or the Internet in general. I like Google, but this just smacks of theater.

I disagree with several of your points but one in particular...
I don't ever recall Apple in it's entire history as being highly affordable. I do recall however, it being well beyond the curve from the standpoint of technological advancement.
With the exception of commodore (may they rest in serene peace) who was always YEARS ahead of EVERYONE but had HORRENDOUS MARKETING, Apple was 2nd in line... now they are 1st since Commodore is extinct.
Punch up Amiga 1200 on ebay and see the dollars those units STILL command.
Apple has an amazing marketing strategy. They sell to human citizens, not geeks, not CEOs.
Everyone else sells the whistles and bells...
Microsoft: More machines are running microsoft OS than any other today
With MS Office you can write documents, compile spreadsheets, give presentations and even keep a database of all your records with one software package at a low price.
Apple: [shows mom shopping] "Siri, which Isle are the cheapest diapers in?" [SIRI VOICE] "Mary, please go to isle 12 and get the huggies at the end. They are on sale for $4.99"
They're advertising is much more personal and that's why they are killing it in today's market.
They are expensive but hardly a ripoff... It's like about a 15% to 20% premium. You still get a quad core, 16gb of ram and have an insane display (retina macbook) and SSD out of the box (768gb)
and you can even put Windows Server 2008 on it if you want or ESXi... so you pay $500 more than everyone else but the construct is that much better. Smallest form factor. Anodized aircraft aluminum unibody chassis...
Dunno... sounds to me like they are doing things pretty well...
I admit their pandering to copyrights is a bit much but hey, JAILBREAK if you want to steal...
