All four of the versions will have the same crappy interface and be a real peach to use unless one is an android user. Android users and iPad users will be right at home. Can we all say millenniun or Vista. i hope they clean this up before release otherwise user may find themselves throughly confused.

all you have to do is click on the desktop icon and the metro UI goes away and it looks almost like windows 7

So what would be the point of windows 8 in that case?

I have already solved those issues. StartMenu7, and I am sure there will be others, returns
a reasonable start menu and as the desktop hardly changes I NEVER have to use metro!
Seriously, Windows 8 is far superior to vista and has improvements to win 7 as well.
It is worth having if you can counter microsoft's stupidity. Which is very possible!
I am even willing to bet they put the start menu back on laptops and desktops.
If not immediately then in the 1st 6 months with sp1.

Wow! *Only* four versions! And we're supposed to be happy about this? Give me a break. What about one or two versions? Why do they feel the need to strip out features for lesser versions - and the software is still expensive!

Apparently there is an improved NTFS, better security and I think improved wifi to name a few.
IE10 sux but Firefox runs just fine . . . StartMenu7 give you back the start button so actually it is pretty good over all!

How sad you're so unhappy with your life you have to hate on everything Microsoft. You're taking up valuable space on this planet.

Looks like Larry forgot his meds today OR is it that he is just unhappy?

Not impressed. That's three too many versions. Microsoft continues to subordinate the customer to its profits. This is a recipe for failure. Microsoft should be thrilling its customers and not irritating them.

The article says four versions, but the chart only lists three.

And to top it off, this chart only lists three? What's the mystery version?

I think that many people are worried that this will continue Microsoft's cycle of crap-gold-crap-gold in OS. No one wants another Vista when they can stick with an XP (metaphorically)

I gave Windows 8 a try and from what I saw of it I would rather use Vista than Windows 8. WE can tolerate touch and limited ability apps and access on tablets because we don't expect as much from them. Nobody would think a Phone would do what their quad core desktop can do so why give use an OS that handles like a phone OS. Microsoft........this version of Windows will be your biggest flop yet.

I actually feel that Microsoft should sell one more version.
Windows 8 Start Menu Edition.

Hmm, I'd like to see a Windows 8 convertible ultrabook. I've heard that Microsoft is pushing hardware vendors to make ultrabooks with touch screens, not make it a convertible and I'm sold.

Regardless, Windows 8 (not RT) on a Samsung slate, with docking station and keyboard, would be AWESOME!
