I am almost never below 17-20Mbps (Normally I am around 28Mbps average) on my Bionic, have tested in about 5 markets so far, and same results, my work AT&T phone stays around 5-7Mbps.

Sprint works much better for me than what is reflected here. Like all services, I guess it depends on where you are located. Sprint 4G ranges between 7-10Mbps for me, sometimes up to 14. I have no complaints with Sprint.

Dude, this test reflects the speed at point of use on actual phones. Who give the crap about speed on a usb modem? Your phone has a USB modem? I guess not.

Dude, this test reflects the speed at point of use on actual phones. Who give the crap about speed on a usb modem? Your phone has a USB modem? I guess not.

I read this as "which networks are fastest?", Not "which networks are quick with mobile handsets?" There is a difference.

Fastest as long as you have a connection. Here in Denver, with AT$T, you're dropping connections at least half a dozen times a day and I'm the laughing stock of my non-AT$T friends!

Incorrect. ATT LTE was indeed on in New Orleans when we tested there. This was confirmed by AT&T as of yesterday. M

My "4G" speeds on my AT&T iPhone 4S are 5.87Mbps/1.76Mbps. But then it is an outright lie for them to be referring to HSPA+ as 4G anyways...

I ran the Speedtest app in the Northern VA area (Reston/Herndon) today (overcast, rain) and with my Galaxy S2 on a Wimax connection I clocked 12Mbps down, nuff said.

AT&T has crap for LTE coverage. I don't see how you can state they're the winner. Also your LTE speeds seem absurdly low. Everywhere I go with Verizon LTE (Which is many more places than AT&T) I get 15-35Mbps.

To the editor: It is interesting to see how many people have responded saying that your speeds are considerably too low. None commenting that your values are too high. Sure would leave me questioning my testing methods.

I also own a Verizon LTE modem. And I average 20 GBs a month with it. I have yet to see such low performance form it. The iPad has been pretty darn impressive. And a friend has an Android which gets more than double, if not 4 times the speed detailed in the article. I've had service with every carrier mentioned, Verizon is the best. I found T-Mobile to be pretty poor. I'd rank it the worst. AT&T is the second worst. And I'd actually put sprint at number 2.

Looks like both HankRearden & waldojim works for Verizon.. Experience with Verizon is not that great when you switch between LTE and 3G ...

Or we actually have thier service, and use it. Amazing how many stupid people jump to stupid conclusions when they dont own a given product.

as it stands, my 3g devices average 150k/sec download. My 4g never see less than 750k/sec, average closer to 1.5MB/sec (that is about 12mbit).

If you dont like it, oh well.

AT&T's LTE network is fairly new so I'd think this type of test would be more accurate a couple of years out when they have more traffic on it.

Sprint is garbage!!!! What is the use of an unlimited plan if your network provides Flintstone speeds? I have had sprint for years and I really tried to stick with them because on paper they have the best plans but I get crazy low speeds and a very inconsistent network. 47kps download. I can't even stream a song or watch a short YouTube clip without long pauses. I have been through 4 phones over the last 2 years. 2 Evos one curve and a nexus 4g all with the same slow speeds. I have been on the phone with customer service going back and forth and all they will do is call back to ask to see if the same problem persists. It always does because the network is shot. I guess I will try T-Mobile they are the only ones close to sprints unlimited plan but I never liked their service from what other people had to say. Who know this sucks!!!!!!

Im not sure where they are testing, I have Verizon LTE (Chicago) on my IPad and consistantly get 20mb+ in any tests I perform.
