"Some E.U. politicians alleged that their colleagues had been "held to ransom" by the U.S. authorities, who threatened to suspend visa-free travel to the U.S. if the deal was rejected." The US resorting to blackmail to get what they want. Does not surprise me to much.

Most countries require visas to travle to, or at least some do. How is this blackmail? We didn't threaten to expose secrets of theirs (The EU countries), which is blackmail.

Without a real reason such as threat from the EU politicians colleagues then the US is blackmailing them. Its blackmail to say we will stop your people from coming into our country if they don't vote in our favor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coercion <<< This word would have been more accurate but even blackmail suits this argument. http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Blackmail.
