I hate Adobe Flash - it freezes up the browser sometimes, it's proprietary, etc. I found that if I disable it youtube automatically gives me videos in html5 (even without me manually opting in). However, they say that you can't view ad-supported ones in html5, and without flash enabled, there's simply no way to view those videos. (for instance, vevo ones) Any thoughts here?

FWIW, it precisely for those types of issues that Steve Jobs would diss Flash and why he claimed that Apple would not support Flash on iOS devices. And frankly, I have not missed Flash on any of my iOS devices. :)

And I agree with you on PDFs...Acrobat Reader has become a DOG over the years. As a result, I use Preview on my Macs for reading PDFs unless I am forced to use Acrobat Reader because a PDF has some DRM (I have several DRM'd PDFs...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...for purchased PDFs...mainly building code documents).

I think it's time for flash to die. If things like pandora and netflix and embrace it (remember, pandora's interface is html5, but the actual player is still flash), and browser games could really start using it, we might finally be rid of it. On a phone, yeah, I can see how you don't miss it (apps, apps, more apps...). The other reason for me to not use adobe reader is because it is known to be full of security holes. (however, to avoid confusing family members, I still have it installed on their computers)
