It is not so much as having the rare-earth minerals it is the refinement of them. China has the only large scale rare-earth refinement facility... So it doesn't matter if you have rare-earth elements under your feet you can't use them unless you sell them to china to refine them...

America was a producer of some of these materials until they found that it was cheaper to get from China. Now, they (the chinese) have the monopoly, and guess, prices are way up. What to do? Restart the mining and never stop

See Android users have no reason to insult Apple. Not a single true reason. Because Google as well as Android makers also find the cheapest way to make their products. At least Apple uses some of their money to innovate. iPhone and iPad are revolutionary, Android phones and tablets aren't. Without iOS, Android would either never be released or it would be completely different than it currently is.

But on side note I just hate cheap people in general. My thing is unless you're willing to pay same price for your device as the product you're attacking, then you really have no right to speak because you only choose the product you have because it's cheaper. I don't care if you're an Android fanboy, Windows fanboy, Apple fanboy or whoever. With me, I go with the best product I can afford and I don't care what company makes it.

Everybody else who makes our PC's ipads,Kindles, slates, iphones ,cell phones, dumb phones, smart phones ,small appliances . Consumer devices long ago left the US for Asia. We no longer have the infrastructure or supply chain to make these things in volume competitively. Japan is now feeling the pinch. The big thing in China now is cars every major automotive company in the US and Europe has a presence there. SO. Korea is getting into Cars and major appliances in a big way Hyundai is now a major manufacturer . So Korean Samsung solidified its image as a premier home appliance in the North American, European, and Russian markets, by selling so many refrigerators, washing machines, air-conditioners, as well as new steam microwave ovens and “robot” vacuum cleaners.they are also a major global manufacturer of Semiconductors,Display Panels ,OLED Displays,Televisions, Mobile phones etc . Not much left here except Ge appliance,Whirlpool appliance GM Ford and Chrysler I meant Fiatstler. at least for the time being. The HP PC I'm typing on right now is made at Foxconn in China just like iphones. Where was your computer made? just sayin .

Why do American's think all products has to be made in America only as if other countries have no pride in manufacturing? Especially considering China is their major consumer base compared to US. What American's define as slave labor isn't the issue here, its the constant superiority attitude American's display when it comes to manufacturing. The proof is the fact hat no American says anything like, Apple should move their manufacturing to Italy...etc. Nooo, its always "move it to America cause we are greedy, we want work, we want high pay yet we refuse to pay high prices for products and want them cheap"

lol, how pathetically hypocritical.

Really, that's the best you can do?

Prison Slave Labor

Foxconn Slave Labor

Child Slave Labor

The comment wasn't about who's making what for who, it was about working conditions in that country. So "employing" prisoners, lousy working conditions, and kidnapped children isn't considered slave labor? Wow, friend, now who doesn't know what they're talking about. Time to come out of your parent's basement, buddy. Just don't be afraid to call it what it is.
