This is going to be a bad move. Those ugly flay keys aren't user friendly at all.

After just securing 2nd place as one of the largest computer sellers, you are making a move that si going to drive you right back down.

Why fix something that isn't broke by breaking it?

I will reserve judgment, until I try the new keyboard.

I can not understand when people comments without trying...
I use ThinkPad since 1997 and for the last 6 month new X1. This keyboard is the best ergonomic solution in keyboards that I have seen...
Try before judging and thumbs up Lenovo!

Stick to the classics. I also do hope that the design won't be changed. Slap in Ivy Bridge and keep the rest of the ThinkPad we all love

For the author: "A photo of the upcoming ThinkPad X230 posted on the Lenovo forums plainly shows an AccuType keyboard being used instead of the tradition one." - The picture was removed by the forum admin.

Have you even used the new keyboard? I have! On the X100e. And you know what? It blows the old keyboard out of the water. Lenovo made a smart move. They are keeping ahead of the curve, cementing their place as having "the best keyboard you will ever use in a laptop".

If you actually tried new things with an open mind instead of blasting everything with your ignorance, you may learn to appreciate these improvements when they come along.

I have used two Thinkpad models, the T42 and the T60 at work, and I own a Lenovo 3000 Series Y410 at home. All of them have decent key feel, but the Thinkpad T series is much more accurate than the Y410, which frequently erases typing because it interprets key input at times as a cut and paste operation, which is wrong. I hope the new keyboards are closer to the Thinkpad T series in operation than the 3000 series; there is a significant difference between them.

It wouldn't matter at all to me, since I use an external keyboard identical to that which I use on my desktop computer. Being a touch typist, I find that using identical keyboards is vital, and I couldn't care less what the default keyboard is on my notebook.

I have a Lenovo z560 for home use and I have used the Tpads for business use. I do prefer the tpads keyboards to my z560. Typo errors are more evident for the peronsal device. I too feel this is a bad move for Lenovo to just be more like the competition. The current keyboard is what set them apart from the rest and defined them as a leader.

The keyboard on the ThinkPads are a solid step up from the ideapads. Don't walk into a TP with the mindset that the keyboard will be anything like that of the z series machine at all. I have this new style board on my X100, and it is freaking nice.

I'll reserve judgment until I have to type on one. They need to know though that decent isn't good enough.

Just don't tell me that the track point is being dropped. In fact, what I have been waiting for is a keyboard with two track points, not one in the middle, but one to be accessed by left index finger, another for the right. Sure would quicken my typing and mousing.

I will not say it's worse or better.
But, I will stay rationale.
I think they changed to last thing that need to be changed in their product.
