Win XP was the first OS that I actually liked -- after having tolerated Win 3.1, 95 and 98. XP 'only' crashed occasionally, unlike all the others that crashed regularly.

But I am using Win 7 now -- and I don't remember it ever crashing. It just works!

Wow, after 24 YEARS (Win 1.0 in 1985 to Win 7 in 2009) -- Microsoft has finally gotten it!!! Too bad others have moved beyond just the desktop...

Now, how long will it take for Microsoft to catch up beyond the world of the desktop???

"Windows Vista, the problem-plagued operating system that never really took hold among customers"
WTF?? Problem plagued? Try people trying to run it on old hardward and not enought memory. Or didn't get how it used memory! Never took hold? More people useing it today than all of Apple OS's together!

My 10 year old PC works fine, and won't run Win 7 (or 8). Why should I "upgrade"from XP when it works for me?

When I am finally forced to buy new; I may have to buy as many as seven new PCs for my family. Maybe I can apply to the Gates foundation for a grant....

Why not wait for 8? Two words: Metro interface.

I was hesitant to leave XP behind. In all the years I used it, I can probably count on one hand the number of times it crashed on me. (And, if I were to fully investigate those times, I'd probably find the applications being at fault, not the OS).

That said, I'm now running Win 7, and I love it. I don't anticipate changing any time soon. As I did with XP, I bought a retail version of Win 7 - which means I can re-use it as I replace/retire my hardware as it ages.

XP is what I learned on. Though it was great to learn on it, Windows 7 is much better. I'm very interested in trying out Windows 8 when it is ready. I am one who has been bitten by the tablet bug. I love the tablet idea.

The thousands of dollars small business wastes on upgrades like corel, word, adobe & others never ends. It's the biggest scam next to cell phone upgrades. Leave my XP alone.....I'm doing just fine with present stuff. Tired of being a microsoft's guinea pig.

Just wondering if you're high of if you've really used Vista at all. From the very beginning, there were issues with network transfer speeds compared to XP, it took TWICE as long to copy files from one location (server) to the local machine. Hardware companies weren't ready for it, it took Creative Labs almost a year after it came out to properly use their cards and their software still isn't quite right. Nvidia didn't have a DX10 card out for almost a year later either. Software and hardware companies were not ready for it and they weren't ready for 64 bit operations either. It wasn't until SP1 came out that it was somewhat decent and it's still a bloated pig. Win 7 has addressed and fixed a lot of issues that were Vista. Vista is MS's next generation of MS ME, Mistake Edition.
