I agree with most of this list outside of 2 apps.
I don't think The Eatery is accurate enough to be considered a great app. Food grading is too much in the users hands and that presents a problem since a lot of users have no clue how healthy something else. FOODUCATE is a much better app. Which tells you which gives food grades to grocery store items based on ingredients in a product.
I also don't agree with Calorific being better than LOSE IT. Lose It is about the most accurate app when it comes to recommended daily calorie intake. And it adjusts each time you weigh yourself.
On a side note the best free iOS pedometer would prolly be PEDOMETER FREE. I also think it's accuracy is a lot better than CardioTrainer but I don't think they make an Android version.
Instant Heart Rate is a good choice but I think people will rely on it too much and take it's accuracy as fact rather than just take it as getting an idea of your heart rate.

Some corrections.
Callorific for iOS: Currently removed from the App Store
Instant Heart Rate for iOS: No longer free. Instead there's a "lite" version

Probably not a good idea to take fitness app advice from a PC website. Reading this list I'm disappointed in the lack of understanding of what makes up a fitness routine and what all needs to be tracked. For example, tracking calories is one of about 10-15 things you need to track when talking about diet. Tracking pulse is one of about 10-15 metrics you need to track under the category of diet. So there are three big categories that should be reviewed: intake (diet), exercise (aerobic and anaerobic), and body metrics (before, during and after exercise). These all look like point solutions that address one or two of these facets, but calling this "The 4 Best Free Health and Fitness Apps of 2012" is suspect.
