This article is from the perspective of a company that is not using Google Apps and an employee using a personal Google Drive account, and in that case, it's true that Google Drive can be a serious issue for IT.

But the interesting case is with companies that ARE using Google Apps and enable Google Drive for their employees. In that case, the addition of Google Drive causes much more data to be stored in what now becomes a cloud file server. It also gives employees a sanctioned way to share files instead of using "rogue" forms of collaboration.
