If the wireless carriers allowed the Nexus phones to get updates as fast a Google publishes them, this would give the Nexus phone an advantage an really point out how slow each carrier really is as they cram in their bloatware. The wireless carriers don't want pure Nexus updates to be fast, this just makes the various look bad. We really need unlocked phones with direct from Google updates. Waiting for carriers to "allow" each update is not a good security practice and it robs users of newer features and fixes. I wish Google was a wireless carrier provider.

Jared Newman's article states "And although the unlocked Galaxy Nexus now runs Android 4.0.4, owners of the Verizon variant are still stuck on version 4.0.1.". When I purchased my Verizon Galaxy Nexus in mid-December, it immediately updated to Android version 4.0.2 (Build ICL53F) over the air.

Nevertheless, Android system version 4.0.4 was released in March 2012 for the Galaxy Nexus and was on Sprint's CDMA Galaxy Nexuses (Build IMM76D) when released April 22nd. It is now May. When will loyal Verizon customers receive the upgrade to 4.0.4?

I should note: There was a small release of 4.0.4 to the Verizon version of the Galaxy Nexus. Unfortunately, while it did make the phone run much better than it does on 4.0.2, it also broke the LTE radio and people were having call issues. Right now all signs seem to point at Verizon waiting until 4.0.5 hits before they try to update the Galaxy Nexus once again.

And apparently, Verizon wireless has published that the HTC Thunderbolt will receive Ice Cream Sandwich. We're waiting ....
