I have been using some sort of pc for some time and recently I got to wondering if Laptops are getting the short-end of the stick. Allow me to explain:
Desktop PC's truly have their place in everyday society either in the workplace and or at home. One advantage is you can download massive pieces of software providing you have the space on your hard drive.
Tablets & Smart phones are a sweet piece or property to have if you can afford the $300-$500+ price tag. Downside is space is limited on what you can save and the this includes various apps
Laptops can be a "beast" as you can not put them in your pocket like a Smartphone. When you think of it one has to keep an eye on his/her disk space and is fairly limited to the size of the software.
Laptops are a nice tool to have if your not only home bound but your in bed most of the day due to some sort of disability. Then too you need to be wireless to avoid being strangled to death by network & printer cords. So for those who are disabled laptops truly must rule over desktop pc.
Yet what about software & apps? These days apps are meant for you guessed it tablets and Smartphone. But what about those who have laptops and would prefer an app over full scale version of software.
Are laptops getting the short end of the stick over tablets & smartphone? What do you think?
Should developers of apps create their apps to be used with both laptops & tablets or smartphones?
I woudlike to hear others point of view on this.

Hi. I think Laptops have their place for sure. Those things are getting more powerful, to the point that you can do most things that you can do on a desktop. For someone who is bedridden for whatever reason, they allow them to stay in touch and, yes, find a bit of entertaiment. With wireless capabilities, You can do what needs to be done and without all the wires everywhere. I have Two Desktops and two working laptops and use them all at some point. I have a third Laptop that needs some work and hopefully I'll get that thing back up and running. laptops do have their place. I have bags for two of mine for travel purposes. Some people object to the weight of a laptop, but unless you have a 17" one it isn't too bad. The bags make it somewhat more comfortable to carry them, although the 17" one can still be a bit weighty I suppose. I do prefer to use a mouse if I have the room / surface to do so as I do not particularly like the touch pad. I do find typing to be a bit cumbersome due to the placement of the keyboard, but I guess I should use it more to get used to that. Smart Phones and Tablets do offer more portability, but as you pointed out less storage among other drawbacks. I guess they do fill a certain need, but as far as connections and the like, you are under the same constraints as you would be with a Laptop, but with a laptop, you are less hampered by the hardware capabilities.
