I have a friend who has a laptop with a much smaller hard drive than myself and he has(or had) both Microsoft Windows and Macintosh systems installed.

I as wondering to what good this would come of this. As I am considering doing the same thing since I have over 300g's of hard drive space partioned off.
In fact one side of the dard drive is still 127g's free of space.

Please give me the pro's and cons of having a two system ed laptop like my friends. And demonstrate where one could get the Apple/Macintosh software in case I choose to add both.

Or should I lease a good thing alone and keep the extra space for other things like a place to store downloads.

FYI: Asus G51VX with 300g hard drive

The only way to get the Mac OS is to buy a Mac. No other option there.

Once you buy a Mac, you can run Windows using virtual machine software on the Mac.

I'm not a Mac user, so I have no personal experience with this. I just know that it can be done and is relatively common.

You can buy Mac OS brand new in the box as well. Though technically, the license does not allow you to use it on a non-Apple machine.

OP: It isn't worth it. Even IF you can get OS-X installed at all, it likely will not run well without many hours of tinkering. Should you choose to go this route anyway - you are on the wrong forums. I am sorry, but this is the truth. PCWorld flat refuses to allow any discussion on this topic. You need to visit sites like osx86project.com, insanelymac.com, and tonymacx86.blogspot.com. They have excellent forums, and detailed guides. You MUST take the time to read the available documentation though.

Its not a problem if you want to keep both Windows and Mac. You have to buy Mac OS and you can keep both as you told you have large Hard Disk space. Go for it.
