Well then Comscoare is being hypocritical. The Nook is also based on Android and should be counted if they are also going to count the Kindle. The Kindle also is an eReader. So I don't see why Nook is excluded.

Get off your tush and accurately rate or shut-the-front-door giving us convoluted numbers.

It's very telling that Amazon totally ignores the fact that the Kindle Fire is an Android Tablet. http://www.amazon.co...&pf_rd_i=507846

Amazon's focus seems to be on what the device can do, the Silk interface, and the broad array of products available to consumers through the Amazon store. Tech specs and Android version information don't even make the cut.

What does this tell us about the tablet buying public?

THANK YOU for pointing out the absence of the Nook tablet in the numbers. It is very strange not to include it since it is nearly identical in hardware specs to the Fire. Unfortunately, most other news agencies will report this news item and not mention the glaring omission in the report.

I agree that it's odd, since there doesn't seem to be any significant differences between the Nook and Fire. They both even seem to go out of their way to NOT associate their products as Android tablets. Although this doesn't give numbers, it's pretty clear that among Android tablets, it's the Fire, the Nook, and everyone else.

On the other hand, the most successful Android tablets are Android in name only. The Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet have heavily modified user interfaces built upon Android’s smartphone software. Android tablets are still trying to find their way with Android 3.0 and 4.0. So why are the Kindle and Nook tablets beating out traditional Android tablets? For reasons similar to the iPad: stronger ecosystems when it comes to content.

The Nook and Kindle may have their place in the tablet market, but they are nothing like a real tablet like the Asus Transformer, Samsung Galaxy or Motorola Xoom.
Comparing them to these doesn't even make sense the same as comparing them to an iPad. They are totally different devices. I think you should compare 7" devices in their own group and quit trying to say it's the most popular tablet when it's an e-reader first and a tablet second.
Those of us with 10" tablets that can do everything are insulted by a comparison to a Kindle or Nook. Of course they sell better, but if you want to compare market share then compare devices which should be compared, they are totally different. Cheers.

Hmm... I have a 10" tablet and don't feel insulted in any way, and some 10" tablets actually sell better than the 7" reader/tablets ;)
