hello everyone.

since i got this linksys e1500, why the internet connection of my desktop is slower than my laptop?
where my desktop is wired and my laptop is wireless. is it supposed that my desktop gets the connection
faster than my laptop since it is wired?.
in that case, can I manage the connection speed in my desktop and laptop? i mean, is there something that
I can do so that both units receive equal speed?

thanks. :)

How much stuff do you have running in the background on the desktop? Also, you only have one firewall running on it, right? Does this happen with different browsers on it?

So does this only happen if your brother is streaming video or what?

As for the firewall, look in the notification area (lower right-hand area of the screen) for other firewall or security programs. (note: not all security programs include firewalls) Also look at the Windows Firewall (accessible from the Control Panel).

Also, download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (use the free version) on the desktop and see if it detects anything.

somehow like that. its like sharing the internet speed. even though he is not streaming video, as long as he uses the internet, both of us will get slower connection speed. is it the nature of a router, to divide the connection speed? i thought having a router will give me same connection speed in every device.

You only have a fixed amount of internet bandwidth from your ISP. If your bro is using a lot of it, there simply isn't any left for you. That said, look in your router config (192.168.1.1) for something like 'QoS' (quality of service). For instance, in mine, there's a list of different things and you can control their priority.

I cant see the options/settings that will the bandwidth or the connection transfer.

Have him stream video at a lower resolution. (there's often a button to change the video resolution in the player, use that)
