The days when we can think of the web as being a totally open and safe place to be are over. We need to have a proactive policy in place to thwart attacks, such as those we have already seen from China.

I would support legislation that looks to help in this, and I am aware that we have to walk a fine line as far as freedom goes. But if you have flown post 9/11, you quickly realize we have already had to pay dearly.

Vigilance is still the cost of freedom, including the internet.

I agree Tim, what I would like to know is this. How do we protect freedom while protecting lives without harming the freedoms we are guarding so carefully? Security without a great amount of freedom loss.
