Just like epidemiological studies, these are meaningless. They find correlations, not causations. Maybe higher margins allow for "better" cultures. Maybe it's something entirely different that drives both. Making your hopthesese fit the data doesn't work in natural sciences, and they don't work in social/management sciences, except to make consultants rich.
