I think Win7 is pretty well designed, but there are things I'd like them to change. (For instance, Control Panel - maybe they should take a page from OS X? Also, the dpi scaling isn't great, and we're going to need that for high dpi PC monitors to ever become mainstream)

Hi MJD,
Thanks for your msg. Me too, I'm getting to know Win7, I've read a little bit about it and watched a few videos on the Windows website. Glad that you and your Dad are learning too.
And, you're right, MSFT has definitely put things in different places in Win7. Remember the moto "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Well, I think Vista was way easier to find your way around, IMO.

Amen to that!

And, I'd like them to change the way the Help and Support option shows up now. At least in my laptop, it's all about HP options to do this and that and, if you click on the wrong link you'll get taken to their website where you can get lost in the middle of a jungle of links and information!
It was much simpler in Vista, clear cut and helpful. *big sigh* oh well...

Ok guys, as promised here are the pics of the transferring... almost 20GBs worth of stuff.

Now the new desktop looks like the old one! (except for all the crapware the new one came with, on the left side)

Now all I have to work on is getting my PSElements to work on this 64Bit lappy and then work on the solution that Flashorn suggested before.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

If I had that much trouble doing a simple thing like that with win7 I would format and put XP.
My "average user" friend has laptop with win7, he gets me to help him with it, Im not used to it so it takes me a while to find stuff sometimes.
Win7 is pretty good, but any windoze is good till you put in a bunch of 3rd party stuff.
Some things I need were not included in win7 thats mostly why I stick with XP.

LOL Yep, you did!
You know something, Smax... all I wanted to transfer were my Documents and Pictures. But, the thing transferred everything, even the stuff I haven't used in years and won't be ever using again. Is that other stuff really necessary?
A couple of days ago I downloaded a brush for my PSElements but when I went to install it in the Program Files it took me a while, scrolling down the menu thingy to find the Program Files for the new HP.
Now, I also have a folder on my Desktop that says "Computer Local Disk (C:) Program Files (x86)" Does that mean that in order for me to access my HP Local Disk I have to go into that folder to find my stuff?
I'm kind of wondering if I do a System Restore to the day before I did the Easy Transfer, if all that stuff would be cleared out and I can try the Easy Transfer again. What do you guys think? is that even feasible?
Have a great weekend, everyone!

System Restore only affects the OS, not your files.
