Nice. :D I have a 17" HP thanks to my Brother-in-Law. It needs a new Motherboard ( which I have ). Thing was some $1600+ new in July '07 ( It is a Dv9260nr ). I already have a 17" Gateway ( that my Mom uses ) as well as a 15.6" Gateway that I bought in Mid December, because I couldn't pass up the deal. :P

Thank you! LOL I always thought it was such an extreme thing to have more than one computer/notebook but hey, look at us now, huh? I've joined the crowd too. LOLOL  :P

Hey Adama, :D So it would seem. :D Getting ridiculous around here with Two working Destops and two working Laptops and hopefully will get the HP working. I gave my eMachines desktop to my Sister or I would have had three of those. :P

Hi Lincoln!

Thanks so much for the great info! I tried it earlier today and it works just like you said... EASY!
Hit alt and then Edit and there they are... yay! I practiced with a couple of pics and was able to copy them to another folder and also moved them too.

LOL  Now I don't know if I should just go for the easy thing or do the other one that Flashorn recommends - it looks pretty cool. Geez, sometimes I'm such a chicken when it comes to trying out new things.... :P :o

Thanks again!
<3

Glad to be of help.

The learning curve for the WIN7 platform is a little less than I expected. Just trying to get used to where they his some functions, not where they used to be. Learning more with each day, didn't think I'd have to but, need to. My father got a new machine with WIN7 too and he's gaining from what I'm learning. I can't help but wonder why they moved things around like they did but I guess they have their reasons. Moving files around always seemed easier by opening "computer" and windows explorer at the same time and then just click and drag. Sometimes a right click offers more options but can be confusing too. Best to stick to the simplest solution.

I think Win7 is pretty well designed, but there are things I'd like them to change. (For instance, Control Panel - maybe they should take a page from OS X? Also, the dpi scaling isn't great, and we're going to need that for high dpi PC monitors to ever become mainstream)

Hi MJD,

Thanks for your msg. Me too, I'm getting to know Win7, I've read a little bit about it and watched a few videos on the Windows website. Glad that you and your Dad are learning too.

And, you're right, MSFT has definitely put things in different places in Win7. Remember the moto "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Well, I think Vista was way easier to find your way around, IMO.

And, I'd like them to change the way the Help and Support option shows up now. At least in my laptop, it's all about HP options to do this and that and, if you click on the wrong link you'll get taken to their website where you can get lost in the middle of a jungle of links and information!

It was much simpler in Vista, clear cut and helpful. *big sigh* oh well... <_<

Ok guys, as promised here are the pics of the transferring... almost 20GBs worth of stuff. :o yikes!! This is a pic of the new HP.

Now the new desktop looks like the old one! (except for all the crapware the new one came with, on the left side)  another project for another day.

Now all I have to work on is getting my PSElements to work on this 64Bit lappy and then work on the solution that Flashorn suggested before.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi Pookie!

If I had that much trouble doing a simple thing like that with win7 I would format and put XP.

My "average user" friend has laptop with win7, he gets me to help him with it, Im not used to it so it takes me a while to find stuff sometimes.

Win7 is pretty good, but any windoze is good till you put in a bunch of 3rd party stuff.

Some things I need were not included in win7 thats mostly why I stick with XP.

LOL Yep, you did! :D

You know something, Smax... all I wanted to transfer were my Documents and Pictures. But, the thing transferred everything, even the stuff I haven't used in years and won't be ever using again. Is that other stuff really necessary?

A couple of days ago I downloaded a brush for my PSElements but when I went to install it in the Program Files it took me a while, scrolling down the menu thingy to find the Program Files for the new HP.

Now, I also have a folder on my Desktop that says "Computer Local Disk (C:) Program Files (x86)" Does that mean that in order for me to access my HP Local Disk I have to go into that folder to find my stuff?

I'm kind of wondering if I do a System Restore to the day before I did the Easy Transfer, if all that stuff would be cleared out and I can try the Easy Transfer again. What do you guys think? is that even feasible?

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi Snorgie!

Long time no see you, my friend!

Meh, not too much trouble... <_< just a couple of things I didn't really know how to do. Otherwise, the new laptop with Windows7 is pretty spiffy and working good.

Take care!

System Restore only affects the OS, not your files.

I think you can delete that folder - all it is is the program files from your old PC, which you can't use anyway. (most programs require a bunch of registry entries, and thus must be reinstalled on a new machine) Also, system restore is only for Windows stuff, NOT for your files and such.
