NFC "bump to connect" was not available on the BB Remote Bluetooth Stereo Gateway that RIM previously sold. Also RIM targeted the BB BT Stereo Gateway as a Blackberry product saying it supported certain BB model numbers, like you saw in the Amazon link you posted, which implied to many potential customers that they were the only devices it worked with even though it really works with any BT A2DP/AVRC capable device.

So while the BB Music Gateway isn't a completely new product, it is a new model with new a new feature(NFC) and now being marketing as a general BT AVRC/A2DP device not tied to specific BB models only. Oh, and the new one has a lower reported price.
