Nice post Tony. I couldn't have said it better myself. For me it's going to come down to the platform I use the most and am most comfortable with. Maybe that's Google, maybe iCloud (future state), but for now, I'll stick with my home NAS (i.e. personal cloud) which has the remote access capabilities and provides the backup I need for my ~800GB of music, photos, video, etc...

Your setup sounds great, Mark. If you don't mind my asking, what is your setup for your home based cloud?
I'm running a centos server in my home network with about 5TB of storage, and still trying to get it setup
for full network support for my multi-os challenged household, and also for remote access to a restricted
