Nice, but it's nothing new for me. Honestly, I don't see any differences between 2.0 to 3.5, but that is just me.

To convince me to go with LibreOffice, I really wish LibreOffice were as powerful as Microsoft Office 2007/2010 when it comes to GUI and managing styles. I don't see any improvements in the GUI department.

I'm sure when they're 'equal' in your eyes, you'll find some other trivial bugbear to complain about 'not being the same'.

It used to be 'no grammar checker'. Next it will be 'I don't like the shape of this particular glyph in a font it came with.'

Any excuse to feel good about PAYING for junk that is not any better; just different.

If I'm going to be paying for software that I really need such as Ribbon then SO BE IT!!!

I'm having BIG trouble searching for office productivity suite that comes as close to Microsoft Office 2010. LibreOffice does not cut it. Welcome to the 21st century.

LibreOffice = Office 97/2000/XP/2003.

What open source office productivity suite is as close to Office 2007 and 2010?

Are you saying the M$ Office 'Ribbon' is what you need, that open source software doesn't have?

What is it that 'LibreOffice' is 'missing'? Be SPECIFIC, please. Oh wait, you probably haven't even run it.

Not having a GUI *identical* to M$ Office is not a point against it, BTW. It's only you being inflexible and maladapted.

Ribbon-haters are also being inflexible, too. :)

GUI matters to me. How do I get rid of menus in LibreOffice and have tabs instead like Ribbon?

Don't care. There aren't generally menus to be gotten rid of, and the few pop-ups have the little [X] on them to close 'em. Just as the usual menus/toolbars.

I launch a word processor or a spreadsheet to do work, not watch cartoons.

Sure! But to pretend that you can't have BOTH is kind of silly. While I would never PAY to use a Micro$uck virus installation suite, you can still use libreoffice/openoffice for free!

After all, Micro$uck stubbornly refuses to import proper, internationally standard OpenDocument format documents, half-baked pile of crap that it is. So you'll need something that does, and has the capacity to translate them to something you CAN open with Micru$uck Orifice.

BTW, libreoffice.org is still free, and will be free forever, even the tenth time you're dumping hundreds of dollars into the trash, 'upgrading' Micro$uck Orifice, libreoffice will still be available and free. Just think of the GOOD things you could have bought with all that cash.

Though 'Google Documents' does a passable job of that document translating, too. And that's 'free', as long as you don't mind a 'bot snooping your documents to find 'ads' for you.
