I give microsoft a thumbs up because they are on top of their game when it comes to security, especially when they have such a large share of the market, the most attention from hackers trying to find every loophole and possability.

This is the complete opposite of what apple is doing, walking around saying they can't get malware or viruses, well Now many people no thats not true finally, although alot don't and will be in for a good surprise soon enough.

Yes, by all means actively having to patch for millions of holes, fight against a million viruses and an estimated several hundred thousand pieces of malware (or variants) is much better than having to deal with the ever so infrequent piece of malware. Malware, by the way, not virus. Flashback was malware ported through Java, not OSX. Yes, Apple should do more, but it doesn't have nearly the herculean task that Microsoft has with its swiss-cheese OS.

I'm on top of my game when it comes to hardening my Macs, including a number of security add-ons in Firefox. I realize that Macs can be exploited, especially if the system is compromised, such as failing to enable the built-in OSX firewall.

Granted, clever Apple advertising does foster the idea amongst non-techie users that Macs are bulletproof; and as a result most iStuff users will always be well behind the security curve.... although with the upcoming Mountain Lion, Apple (finally) employs a goodly number of automatic security features.

So to imply that Apple does nothing at all about OSX security is just plain wrong.
